Biography
Jordan Maucotel empowers clients to build and protect their intellectual property assets by assisting them with drafting, prosecuting, defending, and asserting patents. Jordan is experienced in patent procurement as well as post-grant proceedings at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Always interested in new technology, Jordan has experience in a wide range of technical areas, including optics, semiconductors, medical devices, wireless networking, and mechanical devices.
Before law school, Jordan worked at an engineering outsourcing firm where he was involved with developing and commercializing new technologies, including a line of radiation detectors. As an attorney, he was part of the intellectual property group of a large international law firm. In that position, Jordan was part of a team that successfully represented both patent owners and patent challengers before the USPTO, the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Jordan continues to use his technical and legal experience to form complete and informed strategies for his clients.

- Successfully asserted inter partes reviews (IPRs) for a number of large tech companies on matters ranging from wireless networking to optical devices.
- Successfully defended the patents of a large manufacturing company in patent reexamination proceedings.
- Represented a large medical company in development of an extensive patent portfolio for ground-breaking medical devices.
- Represented a small tech company in protecting key technology through patent protection and later developing licensing strategies for these patents.
- Participated in pro bono projects including hurricane relief, immigration proceedings, and estate planning.
