Biography
Alec Shapiro assists clients with the preparation and prosecution of patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Alec has experience with various technologies, such as medical devices, machine learning applications, additive manufacturing, and those related to gene sequencing.
Prior to joining BoMc, Alec was an attorney at an intellectual property focused law firm. In that position, Alec provided clients with opinions regarding patentability, drafted and prosecuted patent applications before the USPTO, and engaged in appeal proceedings with the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).

Highlights
- Succeeded in overcoming Office Action rejections by preparing and submitting appeals to the PTAB.
- Represented clients in interviews with patent examiners to overcome rejections and secure allowances of patent applications.
- Presented IP-related legal arguments before six federal judges as part of a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) exercise with the Michigan IP Inn of Court.
