Biography

Adam Burns specializes in patent portfolio management, patent prosecution, and in post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). He has experience with technologies ranging from additive manufacturing, automation systems, and robotics to food technologies.

Before joining BoMc, Adam worked as a judicial law clerk for the PTAB, drafting decisions for administrative patent judges and working with the Director of the USPTO on Director Review requests. Adam also worked at a small boutique intellectual property firm while in law school, focusing on patent prosecution, trademark, and copyright litigation matters.

Before law school, Adam worked as an electrical engineer in automation for a manufacturing company in Connecticut. He earned a law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law and a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Connecticut, Storrs. As an undergraduate, Adam served as Vice President of his school’s chapter of IEEE-HKN, the Electrical Engineering Honor Society. During law school, Adam was the President of the Intellectual Property and Technology Law Society, an editor of the Connecticut Insurance Law Journal, and served in the UConn IP Law Clinic.
